Dim Sum Appreciation tour

‘Dim Sum’ literally means ‘a light touch on the heart’, an ideal way to describe those small, delicious sweet or savoury dishes; ‘Yum Cha’ means to ‘drink tea’. The two expressions are often used interchangeably and this way of eatingone of the most popular and well-known forms of Cantonese cuisine, considered a vital part of Chinese culture. It is a tradition for families to go ‘yum cha’ on holidays and weekends.

On this tour, we will indulge in both the yummy traditions.

First we head to a restaurant that has been operating for over 50 years! One of those gems whose existence would only be known to the older generation of Singaporeans, and is probably the only one which continues to serve dim sum in the traditional push-carts.

After our dim sum brunch, it is the perfect time to learn about the art of drinking tea, which is believed to aid digestion. We will make our way to a heritage tea house which has been operating for close to 100 years in Singapore. Both a wholesaler and retailer of tea leaves, it is one of the few tea merchants in Singapore which still blend their own tea leaves using the traditional method. As a lovely bonus, we will leave with a beautiful tea set that comes with 5 packets of tea.
