Amara Heritage Trail @Sentosa

You can visit the former site of the British Army in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. You’ll also can to visit two of the last air raid shelters from World War II at Sentosa.


Ang Mo Kio Heritage Trail

Mention “heartland” and Ang Mo Kio comes to mind for many Singaporeans. Planned and developed in the 1970s. Ang Mo Kio has since grown from a collection of various kampongs into a modern town teeming with delicious hawker food, small businesses and high-rise buildings.
Ang Mo Kio used to be an area with large expanses of swamps and tributaries of rivers running through it before it became a residential town known for having popular hawker food stalls. This trail, which includes a stop at the scenic Lower Pierce Reservoir (above), is an easy 2.4km walk.


A Stroll in the Jewish Quarters

The Jewish community has played a significant role in Singapore’s development. Sir Manasseh Meyer — a philanthropist who contributed to the founding of two synagogues in Singapore and construction of Raffles College — and David Marshall — a prominent member of Singapore’s political scene.
Start your journey to visit the Maghain Aboth Synagogue, the oldest Jewish synagogue in Southeast Asia and then the Jacob Ballas Centre.


Balestier Heritage Trail

The Balestier precinct is named after Joseph Balestier, the first American Consul to Singapore, who owned a sugarcane plantation there. It is one of Singapore’s most prized historical districts and it really is a must-visit for all Singaporeans.
Balestier is holds the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall; Sasanarmsi Burmese Buddhist Temple; Tan Tock Seng Hospital and the former Malay Film Productions studio; religious and cultural institutions such as Goh Chor Tua Pek Kong Temple, Thong Teck Sian Tong Lian Sin Sia and Masjid Hajjah Rahimabi Kebun Limau; as well as numerous sports clubs located on Balestier Plain.

With 10 markers spread along a 15km route, you’ll discover Bedok’s long history, from its kampung beginnings to its key role in the East Coast Reclamation Scheme.

Chinatown Heritage Trail

Chinatown is one of the best areas to visit for a deeper insight into the lives of the Chinese community when they first settled in Singapore during the 1820s. There are 4 distinct sub-districts within the Chinatown heritage zone, namely Telok Ayer, Kreta Ayer, Bukit Pasoh and Tanjong Pagar.

Jalan Besar Heritage Trail

The Jalan Besar Heritage Trail tells a tale of two former swamps.
Bound between Jalan Besar, Kitchener Road, Serangoon Road and Petain Road,there has New World, this is a park for people from all walks of life until its closure in 1987. You can also visit other place like the Central Sikh Temple and Chwee Kang Beo Temple.


Jubilee Walk

The Jubilee Walk is an eight-kilometer trail that connects the past, present, and future elements of the Singapore story, from ancient Temasek to the colonial era, to nationhood, rapid urban development, and beyond.
Launched in 2015 to commemorate 50 years of Singapore’s independence, the Jubilee Walk marks an important milestone in nation-building and is a lasting physical legacy of the Golden Jubilee celebrations.

Jurong Heritage Trail

Explore the story of Jurong when it was formerly covered with plantations, and follow its transformation into Singapore’s first industrial estate. Many would remember Jurong by the formation of Jurong Industrial Estate in the 1950s, and subsequently the operationalisation of Jurong Port in 1965, all of which gave Jurong its reputation of “an industrial town”.

Kampong Glam is one of Singapore’s most colourful districts. It was where the Malay royalty once resided, many diverse communities, such as the Javanese, Sumatrans, Baweanese, Banjarese, Arabs, Chinese and Indians.
Kampong Glam Trail is the best place to immerse yourself in the Malay heritage of Singapore which will take you through the Kampong Glam area, Arab Street, Beach Road, Jalan Sultan and Victoria Street.


Little India Heritage Trail

Featuring over 40 heritage sites across four kilometers, the Little India Heritage Trail offers three specially curated thematic routes that bring you across the precinct’s historical landmarks, places of worship, and retail offerings.
Little India is home to many traditional businesses that offer experiences that cannot be found elsewhere in Singapore. This trail offers a chance to try authentic Indian food, purchase traditional clothing and/or hunt for bargains at various shops in this area. A trip to Little India is not complete without a visit to the Indian Heritage Centre to looking to dive into Indian heritage or visit Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, one of Singapore’s oldest Hindu temples, otherwise, take a trip to Foochow Methodist Church and the Masjid Angullia for a look at the other religious sites in Little India.

Sentosa Nature Heritage Walk

Home to more than 30 carefully conserved heritage trees and buildings, Sentosa also houses Singapore’s only fully restored military fort, Fort Siloso. The Sentosa Nature Heritage Walk is an 8 km trail route, where you can explore and learn more about Singapore’s heritage.
Starting from Sentosa Boardwalk and ending at the Beach Station, this self-guided walk features historical sites such as the former British Hospital (now Madame Tussauds Singapore) and Mt Imbiah Battery which served as a defense post in the 1800s at the summit of Mount Imbiah.


Sepoy Lines Trail

The Sepoy Lines area including Pearl’s Hill and Outram has been a space of great significance in the early migration of Sikhs to Singapore and to the establishment of a settled community.

World War 2 Heritage Trail

The Second World War came to Malaya and Singapore on 8 December 1941, one of the most defining moments in Singapore’s history would be World War II.
To commemorate the efforts of those who fought during the war on this island for the peace that we enjoy today, you can visit the Labrador Battery or Long Sand Harbor, the Changi Museum and the Reflections on Chandu Hill.

Yishun and Sembawang share a history that started before urbanization kicked off here in the 1970s.
